Having better equipment does not make a better photographer. However, you can't take high quality photographs with low quality equipment. Having the right tool for the job makes the task easier and quicker, saving you the client money in the long run. Also, if a better quality image is captured then it will require less post-processing, again saving you money. The equipment I have allows me to tackle almost any type of photography with few exceptions. Most noteably, I do not own a studio or studio light so will hire a studio should one be required.

Cameras and lenses

  • I own a CANON EOS 5D MkII and an EOS 400D backup camera,
  • Both cameras have CANON Battery Grips with two batteries each to allow extend shooting,
  • I have multiple Sandisk Memory cards ( 32Gb, 4Gb & 1Gb),
  • CANON EF 24-105 f4 L IS USM lens for landscape and portraiture (normally mounted on the EOS 5D MkII),
  • CANON EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS USM lens for shooting from a distance,
  • TAMERON SP AF90 f2.8 Di Macro lens for taking photographs of very small things,
  • SIGMA 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 OS lens for general photography (normally mounted on the EOS 400D),
  • CANON 580EX II high powered flash with a Gary Fong diffuser to soften the flash,
  • CANON MR-14EX Ring Flash for macro photography,
  • Circular Polarisor filters and Neutral Density Graduated Filters
  • CANON RC-6 Infra-red Remote Release to trigger the camera from up to 5 meters away,
  • MANFROTTO 190XPROB Tripod,
  • MANFROTTO 676B Monopod,
  • MANFROTTO 322RC2 Ball Head,
  • ERGOREST Window/chest Bracket for mounting the camera in a car or to brace against my chest,
  • LOWEPRO Trekker4 Backpack for protecting my equipment,
  • THINKTANK Camera bags with shoulder straps and belt loops,
  • FUJITSU SIEMENS V3205 12" Laptop for tethered shooting and on-site uploading,
  • Dual Pentium PC with 7 Terabytes of external disc storgage for archiving my work.
